UPDATED: 1/13/2024

As a team that strives to represent and serve our community, we also need a community of people behind the scenes to make our goals and vision a reality! There are always ways to help via volunteering or paid positions. See below for open opportunities!

Want to lend your skills to the Wild but don't see an opportunity that fits below? Reach out to us!

The Wild is an equal opportunity organization and welcomes people of all identities to join our team. It is our policy not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation or disability. Applicants of color, women, non-binary, and trans people, individuals with disabilities, applicants from low-income backgrounds, and LGBTQIA+ applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. We know that BIPOC people as well as people of marginalized gender identities tend to not apply for roles unless they meet 100% of qualifications or experiences. If you are passionate about helping our organization and are open to learning together, we’d love for you to apply.

BOARD POSITIONS

Volunteer Position - Two Year Term, 0-3 hrs/week - Remote

Description:

  • A volunteer position that serves on the Western Ultimate League (WUL) board of directors as a representative of the Utah Wild.

  • Who/What They're Looking For:

    • The most important factor is alignment with the mission of the organization: a strong commitment to the cause of furthering professional sports for traditionally underrepresented groups and dismantling the aspects of white supremacy present in individuals and organizations.

    • We believe that a diverse set of people and experiences push us to be our best. We strive to build a board such that different perspectives can collaborate and feel included. We hope every individual can push our league to grow in a way that’s conscientious and intentional in defining and living our mission, as well as staying true to the people who we serve. We are implementing a consensus decision making model to foster discussion and distribute voting power more equally.

    • Additionally, this person is expected to provide (minimum) bi-weekly updates on the status of the league to the Utah Wild board via slack or email. They should be available to answer questions and, as needed, attend Wild board meetings in order to understand the needs of the Wild so that they can advocate for those needs to the league.

Experience: No experience is required, the following may be helpful possible skills or interests.

  • Professional experience that will enhance our league’s growth, including but not limited to: business strategy, marketing, equity, sponsorships, fundraising, legal, finance, media creation, and community outreach.

  • We’re interested in people who not only bring a unique skill set, but also possess passion and determination to work with a group of similarly committed individuals to build our league.

  • You do not have to play ultimate or be an active member of the ultimate community to be on our board! We’d love to have some outside perspectives.

Compensation: Board positions are not paid positions, as is standard in non-profits. With budget expansion in future years, there may be the opportunity for financial compensation.

Time Commitment:

  • We anticipate that the WUL board will meet every other week, and working committees will meet approximately each two weeks. Depending on the items on the agenda and time of year, board meetings may last multiple hours, and committee meetings are expected to be closer to one hour.

  • All board members will be on at least one working committee, to be determined after the board is determined. Officers of the board will be elected once the board is determined.

  • Working committees include but are not limited to: Governance; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Finance; League Development; and Marketing/Media

  • Terms are either one or two years, with preference for two years.

Express Interest: Please email info@utahwildultimate.org to express interest. Resume and information on pertinent work experience recommended.
