Amy Norris is a defensive cutter originally from Idaho, currently residing in Boise. Norris is a Utah Wild veteran, and this season will mark her fifth with the Wild. She has played for Boise State, Boise Lochsa, Seven Devils Ultimate, and Utah Dark Sky. Norris has made a significant impact on the Ultimate community and has held a leadership role for 3 of the 4 seasons she played for Boise State, as well as serving on the board for the Boise Ultimate Scene.
Norris first started playing Ultimate in high school after attending a pick-up game with her brother and his friends. “He convinced me to go and I totally fell in love with it,” said Norris. “So I played just ‘pick-up level’ Ultimate in high school for a couple of years. Then a bunch of people that I played with graduated, and when they came back in the summer, they were talking about all these tournaments and things they were going to. That’s how I first learned it was something that people could play competitively.”
When Norris later attended Boise State, she said she was on the lookout for a club team. While there wasn’t one her freshman year, by her sophomore year, enough people had gathered on campus to form a team.
“I was on our original team at Boise State, and from there, it just took off,” said Norris. “I had my first club opportunity outside of college in 2016, I think, with the Boise mixed club team, Lochsa. That got me super passionate about it.”
Norris is still involved with the Ultimate community and serves on the board for the Boise Ultimate Scene. “I have felt super fortunate to have mentors and people willing to support me in my journey,” said Norris. “I’m grateful to give back in any way I can, as a volunteer on our board or helping out with our college scene in small ways.”
Norris first heard of the Utah Wild after the organization had reached out to several members in the Boise Ultimate community, saying that prior to the first season, the Wild had done a lot of work in getting the word out. “I heard about it from Utah players and Wild leadership. We were able to get a pretty decent group to come out and participate in tryouts from Boise, which was pretty fun,” said Norris.

Going into this next season with the Wild, Norris says she’s most excited about competing.
“I’m always looking forward to playing at the highest level that’s available to me. I think this year, in particular, there’s a lot of new talent. Not just on the Wild, but across the league, and it’s going to be really fun and exciting to see how the competition continues to rise. I’m also really excited to see how some of our new players this year grow and develop. I think that they have a lot of skill and athleticism that they’ll bring to the team,” said Norris.
