Utah Wild Fall 22-15 to Colorado Alpenglow in 2025 Home Opener

The season has begun for the Utah Wild. The Wild faced the Colorado Alpenglow on Saturday, March 22, in their 2025 home opener at Judge Memorial High School in Salt Lake City. These two teams having last met in the 2024 WUL Championship game.
While the game ultimately ended in a tough loss for Utah, it featured plenty of action and exciting moments that gave fans a glimpse of what the team has to offer this season.
Weather conditions for the game were ideal—sunny to partially cloudy with very little wind, making for a great day of ultimate. However, the Wild were missing a few key players for their home opener, including Lily Terpstra, Carly Atwell, Eleanor Wachtel, and Sadie Cutler.
Additionally, the Wild faced significant roster turnover this year, with several 2024 key players not returning for the new season. Coming into this season the Wild have brought on ten rookies, including Team USA U-20 standout Eva Hayes.
The game began with Utah on defense, and Colorado struck first with a goal from 2024 WUL MVP Abby Thorpe.
Cori Bigham was a standout for the Wild in the first half, making key blocks and critical plays, including scoring Utah’s first goal of the game. Kercher and Norris also played key roles in securing this goal. Utah’s players from Idaho made their presence known throughout the game.
The score remained fairly close through the first half, but Colorado pulled away in the second as they continued their 2024 winning stride.
Other key moments included a huck from Justine Cherwink in the third quarter that led to a Morgan Williams goal. Quincey McKeen also recorded her first goal and assist as a pro player, with the goal coming in the fourth quarter and the assist on a Norris goal in the second.

The final score saw Colorado take a 22-15 victory over Utah. These two teams will meet again on April 26 for a rematch.
